Reaching the heights of excellence is a goal that Zenith has always aspired for and achieved, opines Juliette North, Marketing and Communications Director

In 1911, The Manufacture established by Georges Favre-Jacot definitively adopted the name of Zenith. It referred to the highest point reached by a heavenly body in the sky, and thereby symbolised the heights of excellence to which the brand with the guiding star has been aspiring ever since. In contemporary times, state-of-the-art technologies are implemented, while the historical architecture of the site is zealously preserved, says Juliette North, Marketing and Communications Director, Zenith.

What is your take on luxury retail in India?
We donít conduct direct operations in India but we do have multi-brand stores with big stores like Johnson in the north and Helvetica in the south. We have had a lot of appreciation from these stores. The Pilot collection has been very well received. Worlddwide we have direct operational stores in prominent locations but we are going forward step by step. India being a growth market maybe in the future we will consider.

What is the Indian luxury buyer looking for today when it comes to watches?
From the retailersí point of view, they are very selective. When someone spends a certain amount of money, Indian buyers especially want to see it on their watch. Our ladies Pilot collection has a gold casing and heritage and diamonds which could be what the Indian buyer is seeking.

Is there a particular Zenith collection for ladies?
This time the focus is all on the Pilot collection, and an upcoming one in September. Strategically we are focusing more on ladiesí watches. We noticed that the gold case watch is much appreciated in India.

Since how many years has Zenith focused on the ladiesí watches segment?
Right from the beginning. But, over the past four years, we have been concentrating on this segment and working with female designers for the watches. Itís the DNA of the watches.

Zenith celebrates 150 years next year...
Yes, we will be celebrating 150 years. It is a big landmark for us. We have renovated the manufacturing company where Zenith was found and are conducting workshops.

Will Felix Baumgartner be the face of the watch when it comes to the brand?
We did advertise with him last year and we are planning to do the same in the near future.

What do you look for in a watch?
I look for good style, personality, good time and gold. I love the mechanical movement too.

Any other personal passion apart from watches?
Passion for me is freedom to enjoy my time with family and friends. Basically, time for myself.
