A Capital Time
Published: Volume 19, Issue 11, November, 2011

Braving the traffic of Delhi’s roads and the festive fervour that spilled out into the city on the eve of Dussera, the capital’s beautiful people drove out to Circa 1193 to be a part of Verve’s celebrations of fabulousness and the 100th milestone issue. Under a star-spangled sky, the iconic Qutab Minar close by loomed tall in the night, as cars parked smoothly outside the restaurant. Known for its contemporary Asian cuisine, the swanky eatery with its silver leaf mirrors and antique wall finish spelt out an earthen rustic charm that set the mood for the evening. Walking through the gate, the guests were warmly welcomed and ushered onwards to the garden where the party got underway soon after its appointed time. A huge display showcased a slideshow of Verve covers – the guests, dressed in their best, stopped to identify the Who’s Who of India who had made it there.

Tasty niblets like beer batter sea bass with wasabi aioli, basil and plum onigiri and cottage cheese with Thai sweet chilli among others kept the palates pleased even as Whyte & Mackay whiskey and flutes of Four Season Wines had everyone swaying on the dance floor. As chilled Kingfisher beer did the rounds, it almost seemed as if the evening would not end, and a floating crowd kept the conversation going, as the Mumbai and Delhi set intermingled seamlessly.
Overheard: "Can we come to your Mumbai party too?"
